Location Based Platforms

What are your thoughts on Location Based Platforms?
Well I thought to myself, do I care if someone knows I am in Ocean Side having a nice lunch on the Pier. I mean that is why I am posting right?
Is this bragging or just sharing something fun that I am out doing.

We all have our own personal thoughts on this and personally, I don’t care.
Post away let me see all the fun you are having because with every high there is a low and that is usually coming back from a vacation or an extremely fun activity that had to be shared.

We are all guilty of this.

I really started to think about this more in depth… Not just the social aspect of it, but the tracking device that is always located in some pocket of my attire…
Why does the platform need my location, are they doing more than just sharing my spot at the relevant time?

So the investigation begins…

I found this blog with very informational content

It talks about the pros and cons, but I would only like to talk about the pros. (because I like LBP) It goes on to say that it is very helpful to find out about those who are and may be around you. It uses an example that you are at a concert and you turn on your location, you may just have more friends at the concert than your close interconnected circle of friends that you could meet up with.
It’s also very good for social marketing. For those that have been to a new food joint that you are trying for the first time you can usually find comments or feedback on the new cuisine that you are wanting to try by turning on your location service and seeing others that have also visited and left feedback.

I saved the best for last because this is close to home for me.

My brother is a professional snowmobiler that likes to push his limits and luck…  At all times while he is doing this extreme sport he is wearing a beacon. He wears this so incase of an avalanche catching him and taking him down the mountain he can be found and rescued. To have an exact location and for him to press an accessible button on the front to let us know that he is ok or in-need of help, it truly is an amazing device and technology.

Westport Car Dealership Messes With Pizza Delivery Guy

For those of you reading my blog and don't have any clue on this trending news story please click this link, read the article and watch the short clip.

Who doesn't tip their pizza deliver man? If you are one of those, shame on you. We live in a world where nothing is free not even the delivery of your pizza. Money is what makes the world go, and even categorizes us according to our wealth.
Jarrid Tansey is more than just a delivery driver in my eyes. After being humiliated and harassed in an office full of arrogance he stands up for himself in a very professional manner while getting the point he needed across, not to mention drawing national news in a positive manner all on his side.
It was hard to find a news post that didn't say the same thing (conveying the story and sharing the video) but i did find this
 >> http://kitchenette.jezebel.com/car-dealership-dicks-over-pizza-guy-on-tip-it-backfire-1679603660
just a few paragraphs down that Palace Pizza called Jarrid's boss and shared with him their thoughts. (Which of course was a bunch of) But Jarrid's boss stood by his side saying that past encounters with them have been the same. I thought this was awesome that his boss stood by his side, did not apologize and said that he won't be working with them again. In my eyes this happens only in rare occasions because the customer always comes first (Even I have learned this while working in sales positions)

The Link above not only humbled him but also humbled me. This article shows his true side and what a honest/nice person that he is. Amanda Rogers created a GoFund me account in Jarrids name for those that would like to give him the tip he should have got from the dealer ship. Here is the link if you would like to donate to his fund. But please read the link above to see how he has responded to this donation.

Wow are you not in awwwww…..
The article he states in different words that he works two jobs and sticks to his routine. This helps him stay grounded and to not loose focus. With all the news and press on this story he has tried to stay humble and not let this change his life or him.

Lastly he states, "I just want to say I hold no grudges and I project no negativity towards anybody including F & R. I believe in karma. I just want to stay humble through all this because that's how a human should act day to day. I'm glad that - a lot of times bad news travels fast. In this case it seems like good news is traveling faster than the bad news." –Jarrid Tansey

If this does not show you what kind of person he really is then you have a problem because most people would bash the company that offended them and try to take them down with as much force as possible. This has given me a new outlook on how to handle situations and how to look at the positive outcomes even if others are hurting me. I have been in situations where I have not wanted to tip my waiter/server. Cab driver, or someone that has done a service for me that I felt didn’t meet my expectations. But who am I to say that my expectation is better than theirs. Jarrid said that karma would get them for what they had done to him. Do you believe this? I sure do, they have something in store for them to teach them a valuable lesson.

I just have to remember that feeling I get when I received a tip from a client for a job well done or an extra thank you. It means the world to me. This story is still going through the press and it will be interesting to watch and see the final end result and if it becomes more popular than it already is.

Be sure to check out the >>Go Fund link<< and donate even a dollar, lets be part of an awesome cause that could have easily been solved with the 7 dollar tip that he deserved.

PLATFORMS

Social Media Platforms are used everyday by millions of users who all engage in different ways. There are many different platforms and each one of these platforms are used differently by an individual. Think of a house, there is many different rooms used for different things and you may act differently in each room. Platforms are the same way. Twitter allows you 140 characters and some hash tags. Blog allows for a much lengthier post that tells a story that probably follows pictures and more stories. Facebook also conveys a story in a much shorter, sweeter post.

I am going to start with link 2 because I wanted to inform you on Facebook first and some of the interesting tips they recommended that had interested me. We know that Facebook is the biggest Social Media Platform currently out there and has been for some time now. It can be used by any person or business and do pretty much anything they need it to. This site gives you tips on how to get the most out of your time while using Facebook. It says to Post Thursday or Friday because more users are on and will read your post. If you post less then 250 characters and ask a question you will have more respondents read and respond to your post. Then it goes on and talks about twitter, Instagram, Google, Pinterest, and Linked in.

Link 1 was also interesting on what they had 2 say about Facebook but it wasn’t as informative, but some great material was covered. Saying that Facebook and blogging where up their together where you can market any brand and take it to the next level. Not only are you marketing you company one post at a time you are gaining followers who like or share your page, giving you more fan base for your growing company. But with maintain your profile comes a lot of time your going to put in so that’s where link 1 comes in handy with some helpful tips to get the most out of your time!

BLOGGING

I read two different articles about blogs I randomly found online, that I thought were interesting yet useful in a very simplistic form.

Blog links:

Blog one was about the dos and don’ts when creating/having a blog. I am sure we all have questions about what is the best way to go about posting messages online and trying to pursued your reader one way or another while streaming a positive lasting message. The blog went on to talk about being your-self and posting the good in the situations that you may have had regardless if they where bad. Taking a look at her blog, I seen everything that she had wrote about was true about her blog. From white space, to minimal widgets on the side not distracting the reader.

Blog two was addressing the dos and don’ts of blog designs. We all want our blog to stand out (I am even included on this). Simplicity seems to be the best look when it comes to blog and attracting a wide range of readers. An example would not to clutter the page with posts and pictures not leaving “white space”.  Also making it easy to navigate through the blog, finding previous posts or pictures they would like to see/read again.

Both of these articles where very interesting to read about and to see how the dos and don’ts affect each other in some form. Such as, if you have a long blog post that is not funny, relevant or positive you are taking up white space and distracting the reader astray from your blog.  As I read their blogs I made sure they had done exactly what they said as a guideline for a basic blog that they followed.

In such a short reading there is a lot of valuable information that we can all learn from and apply in our own blogs.

How has social media changed Communication???

Social media just isn't very social anymore, you don’t even need to speak one word because there is so many ways you can communicate your thoughts/questions.

You can get to know someone before you even meet him or her. Find out there likes and dislikes through the things they have starred on twitter. View your mutual friends through Facebook, while looking through their latest selfies on Instagram.

How do you not judge a book by its cover when you can read their book online? Is this a front they are putting on... maybe a show??? They recently updated their Snapchat story with someone else so are they taken or still single?

>>>>Did I just read their social media book without actually even communicating with them?>>>>

We live in a world where the life of someone else is at our fingertips. I can Google the first person that likes this post and find interesting things about them, or things that have come back to haunt them.

So who agrees that social media and our advanced ways of communicating is wrong. Or are you one of those who think that you can actually date someone before meeting him or her almost like test-driving a car, before you buy it.

All the likes/dislikes that I have about social media is just my biased opinion. The Internet is there and blasted by the media of what looks like reality but is just a fantasy for those reading.

We can portray ourselves in such a way we want the outside world to view us. We may be true to others and ourselves or we may lie and lead a fake world online that we pretend is reality.

I think in my biased opinion that we can agree that social media has changed the way we communicate. That’s why I am going to kick back, sip my diet coke and let you all wonder who I really am?!
