Are you ever securing your self enough online??
Have you ever been hacked or someone steel money online from
you?
We have all in some form been hacked, may not have been as
extreme for some but it has. I personally have never been hacked seriously
besides the normal getting a virus email, opening it and then it forwards
itself to my contacts.
With all the different platforms that we have the security
and privacy settings can get a bit confusing because there is so many options
that most of us don’t even want to take the hassle or time to switch anything
so we leave everything out in the open for anyone to take a look at.
I am an avid Instagram user, so I thought it would be
interesting what information they collect from you where they are just a
picture-based platform.
They take your username, password and email address when
signing up for the app. This to me that is not a big deal, because every other
app takes this information and uses it in the same way to start up your
profile.
-They can use your other apps to help you find friends on
Instagram.
-Analytics information to help measure traffic and trends on
the profile.
-Cookies and similar technologies collect information on how
you use the service.
So there is a mass amount of data that can be taken because
this is not even half of the information that is taken. (To much to even list)
but very interesting. I have never been worried about giving out personal
information unless it becomes to personal and asking questions such as my
social security number or bank account information.
I think that it is very important that we not only use Facebook
but utilize the help center also because it can help answer questions that one
might have on how one goes about controlling the settings on your Facebook. It
is a complete website where you can just search any question that you have and
they will explain it and help you resolve it in the most efficient way on
trying to change a setting, make a new profile picture or delete your account.
Good post. Very interesting
