Technology in the Future

The House of Tomorrows Future
(You need to watch the youtube video- description below, before reading this)
What if everything could be controlled with the touch of your finger? What if your phone could be the remote to the whole house? Well that’s what is slowly happening. New things come to the market but nothing like “The house of the future”. The ordinary house uses high tech glass to make life easier.
The house uses ordinary surfaces such as counters, tables, fronts of fridges, windows and many other surfaces and transforms them into very sophisticated electronic devices. How would you like to wake up, get out of bed and touch the window in an upward motion and have the sun immediately shine in?
Corning is the world leader in specialty glass and ceramics using advanced technology to make this break through a reality. They have designed many off the edge products that are not even known to the market. They are all about thinner, sleeker, faster and smart products making your life even easier. Corning is a world leader in glass, they recently came out with the gorilla glass that is being used now with almost every phone  that has came out since 2012.
As cool as this may seem many question the price including me. In the video the whole house is a smart phone essentially and that makes many worried for the ones that cant afford it how they will get a piece of this great technology. For right now they are just partnering with other companies to use their glass but in the near future they want to have their own line which will lead to wiping out all other companies because we wont need them. If one product can do everything for us it will cut down the cost because you wont be paying other bills with all the fees and extra charges. Not only are they taking over the market they are making other companies loose business only giving us one option and that one option is to go with them, many customers worry about this because there will be no competition and literally have no right to choose what they want. The younger generation is all about this technology while the older generation is stuck in their ways and is not ready to get more advanced saying that we are loosing our motivation to do regular things and relying on technology to do everything.
The negative side of this technology may have a great impact but the pros that corning has on the market place are making people anticipate the world to come and the future to make technology virtually smarter. The video shows that your phone that is a piece of smart glass can help you do everything in your house like controlling lights, windows, sounds, and even your car. Once you set your phone down on the counter it transfers to the counter, say while your cooking. Not only can you use them at home they have made a kids notebook that can be used in school and the teachers can cut out the paper supply of homework and assignments.
Just a few things that could be cut out by using this product and making the amount of waste and garbage going down:
·      Markers, Pencils, Pens. Paper
·      Computer Monitors, Modems, Cords
·      Televisions, cell phones,
·      The amount of plastic, rubber and metal with the products above
(That is just a short list of millions of things that could be cut down)
AS you can see there are many pros and cons to this product, but for most the pros outweigh the cons. If you have not seen the video that Corning made you need to go watch it. They use this smart glass everywhere cutting the waste down of many sources. For me that is enough to forward this technology and bring the future into a reality, we need to bring this product to the market to help make our everyday life easier than many think it already is.
Here is the link on you tube to the Presentation that Corning is hoping to bring to us.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cf7IL_eZ38&feature=fvst There is also a second video showing how they could use this product in schools

Viral Videos

I have a friend that I have gone to school with for many years. She is a talented young woman with a voice that I could listen to all day. She started out covering songs in high school and posting them on her social media platforms. After she posted some on YouTube she began to receive many views and comments/likes and shares. She was thrilled. Being the shy girl that she is, it was hard for her to receive so much attention. The more covers she did the more views she got. So she decided to cover current songs trending. The success was a hit. Working with artists in the mean time she was wrote her own song and made a small music video for it locally. It became a hit not only in the local community but L.A. Teen magazine did a post about her in their magazine and shared where to purchase her song. They did play it on a few radio stations for some time. You can now purchase it on ITunes, this I believe is the only song on there but she has been working on getting more on there. She has been contacted by many well known producers her main one being Warner Brothers.
Now that you know a little bit about her please look her up on ITunes an YouTube . Her name is Keiyana Osmond. Here is a link to Her Youtube Channel for you to check out and the ITunes link to purchase her song called Dancing On A Wire. This is her main song that has given her the most views of almost 110,000 views. She is so down to earth and trying to stay rooted through her music going viral.

 >>>> Pop/top 40.

Also if you need someone to sing at an event for you such as a wedding, birthday, or major event… She is your girl !!!!

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization

This is a search engine that finds its users the most helpful and beneficial information that relates to the search an individual is doing. It takes information from every website on the web. Google and Bing collect information about every page on the web to help everyone find what they are looking for. Every page has an algorithm that helps SEO Narrow down the results.  Search results matter because when your page has higher ratings it helps people find your page.  So you must make sure that your web page has everything it needs for the algorithm to successfully bring up your web page.

Algorithms can be tricky so to help with that you must know that
-Words Matter
-Titles
-Links
-Words in Links
-Reputation
All of these things matter and play an important role.

Search engines account for every word on the web
Search engines have titles that might be in the code because they summarize the page.
Links between websites because they recommend you to something else giving you more beneficial information.
Words in the links help you connect to other websites.
Fresh content and engaging links that have been viewed many times help make your material ranked higher.

Now that I know the basics for SEO this will help me in the future with my website that I will need to help grow my company. We all want our search to come up first and it can for various reasons you just have to put all the right information into the Algorithm to make your information come up first. Not only can we do this with our websites we can do this across social media platforms. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn can all be pulled up when searching for your name if you have linked them to each other with hashtags, phrases and links.

You can market yourself and how well known you are is how well you have thought out the SEO process.

Arab Spring

Arab Spring

My first question was what is Arab Spring? I had no clue nor had I heard any information on it. It did take place a few years ago with some major events taking place. It was shocking to me that the Egyptian leader had been thrown out of his ruling and many violent protests broke out.

When I was research the topic and how it related to social media and the things that we have discussed as a class I found some interesting information on the topic.

From Washington University

Through social media in all aspects it showed the Middle East and Africa the freedom that they can have through what they had seen and read online, especially Twitter. With the vast majority of the world not knowing what was going on Twitter helped connect individuals about the change that needed to be done. When this very first starting going down there was only about 2300 tweets a day on what was currently going on. After many years and events escalating tweets rose to 230,000 a day. (I cant even believe that) What an impact that Twitter had on history. It helped the world follow along on events with people who where actually there. It connected people around the world and that supported the change that needed to be done. With things increasing rapidly on Twitter the link between these and other platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and blogs the news started to trend across all.
You tube connected 5.5 million people through videos being viewed. YouTube as we know is not just about watching videos you can also comment and share information that you had seen. This is where blogs came into play because individuals that wanted to share their opinion in depth blogged about the information in detail.

Social media can play such an impact on current events that are happening right now or in the past. It connects so many individuals fast and easily. I know that social media was just a portion of what went on but just think what if there was no Twitter or YouTube to watch the event taking place. We think that social media is just used for purposes that connect us with people or events that are only in our area, but it can connect us to so much more.

On the other hand though does social media create an online war that creates more problems and violence…? I have asked myself this because the media projects only the things that they want their viewers to see, persuading you to their side. We have learned in class that someone can be taken down so quickly ex. The pizza delivery guy, look how fast the car company got bashed and how much money was raised in the pizza guy name. We need to be careful and make sure that we know what is going on by reading many different news sources to make sure that things are adding. To often do we read something without jumping to conclusion and making an ass of our self… To often.

With technology being as powerful as it is I wanted to briefly describe how this website says how technology has changed the power in Egypt.

First, Infiltrating the media elites- news information that is biased persuading an individual one way or another.
Second, Who needs Internet access- According to the Egyptians government not all it is there way of shaping and showing power with the working class.
Third, Linking the street and digital worlds- to prove what is going on in reality and then projecting it out for others to see.
Last, We need new tools- they want new tools to gain more power with social media.

I cant believe that I was unaware of this major event, people lost their lives and where deprived of their freedom and rights. I can see both sides to social media and how they are beneficial and negative in any given situation. Helping others by connecting out through social media is great but it also causes an online war that can be greater than the war itself.

Next time you use social media make sure that you are making a change for the greater good!
